Pack Light, Pack Right
Most people will never travel with as little as I do, and that’s completely fine. But if you’ve ever dragged an overstuffed suitcase through a cobbled street, paid a surprise baggage fee at the gate, or spent the first hour of a trip hunting for a left luggage locker, you’ll know that lighter is better.
I’ve been packing light for over 30 years, for work and for pleasure, and I still tweak things. There’s no single right answer, and what works for me won’t work for everyone. But the principles are the same: take it one category at a time, be honest about what you actually use, and don’t be afraid to experiment. Small changes add up quickly.
Whether you want to ditch the checked bag, streamline what you already carry, or just stop repacking the night before every trip, you’re in the right place.
Helping You Travel More With Less
A bag the size of a daypack, weighing no more than 6 Kg, is the way I like to keep things. It also saves me money when I fly, as I can take advantage of the base underseat bag price on budget airlines and not pay for an extra cabin bag or checked luggage.
This page is the hub for individual articles on packing light; it’s a resource I’m steadily building, a work in progress. There’s more to come.
