Pack Light, Pack Right

Most people will never travel with as little as I do, and that’s completely fine. But if you’ve ever dragged an overstuffed suitcase through a cobbled street, paid a surprise baggage fee at the gate, or spent the first hour of a trip hunting for a left luggage locker, you’ll know that lighter is better.

I’ve been packing light for over 30 years, for work and for pleasure, and I still tweak things. There’s no single right answer, and what works for me won’t work for everyone. But the principles are the same: take it one category at a time, be honest about what you actually use, and don’t be afraid to experiment. Small changes add up quickly.

Whether you want to ditch the checked bag, streamline what you already carry, or just stop repacking the night before every trip — you’re in the right place.

Helping You Travel More With Less

This page is the hub page for packing tips. Whether it’s my signature pack – a 4-season, around-the-world packing list in an underseat bag, or individual articles focusing on one packing area, it’s a resource I’m steadily building, a work in progress. There’s more to come.

My Signature Packing List

A bag the size of a daypack, weighing no more than 6 Kg, is the way I like to keep things. It also saves me money when I fly, as I can take advantage of the base underseat bag on budget airlines and not pay for an extra cabin bag or checked luggage. Everything in the bag is listed with weights (g)

My Favourite Travel Bag

I’m currently switching back to my Cabin Zero 28L bag after a brief experiment elsewhere — post coming soon.
